In the nine years since the celebration of the centennial of Sigmund Freud's birth, there has been a spate of publications dealing with relationships, events, unknown letters, and miscellaneous historical information about Freud, his work, his times, and his colleagues. These include letters to and from Oskar Pfister, Wilhelm Fliess, the minutes of the original Vienna Psychoanalytic Society, and Jones' magnificent and definitive three-volume biography. Now comes a hitherto untranslated work, a journal kept by Lou Andreas-Salome in the years 1912-1913, during which time she was an intimate of such men as Freud, Viktor Tausk, Rank, Ferenczi, Adler, attending their meetings and seminars, contributing nothing, but an avid listener and a confidante to many. She went on to become a lay analyst in Gottingen, Germany, and practiced until her death in 1937.
