English in Agriculture I is intended for first year students of agriculture who already possess a basic knowledge of English and acquire to develop the skills they need in order to study their subject – agriculture. The texts are chosen to give students the lexical material they need for reading specialist literature and improving ability to communicate in English.Each unit consists of six parts comprising:A: Understanding a printed text which gives a student a general idea of what the text is about.B: Check your understanding that helps a student to identify the most important points in the reading passage.C: Increase your vocabulary which includes words a student should be aware of such as synonyms, antonyms, general, specific etc. They are often familiar words used in an unfamiliar way.D: Language focus that deals with some grammatical structures being characteristic of technical English stressing their use and cognitive value.E: Translation which is important since students should translate during the lessons and immediately check the correctness of their translations with the teacher.F: For fun which includes fun activities being used at the end of a lesson as a “change of pace”.
