David Szalay rođen je 1974. u Montrealu, odrastao je u Bejrutu i Londonu, školovao se na Oxfordu, a trenutno živi u Budimpešti. Pisao je radio-drame za BBC, a kratke priče objavljivao je u The Paris Review, Harper`s i drugdje. Književni časopis Granta uvrstio ga je 2013. na popis najboljih mladih britanskih romanopisaca. Autor je zbirke kratkih priča Turbulence te romana London and the South-East, The Innocent, Spring i Sve što muško jest, nominiranog 2016. za Man Booker Prize.
