Riječ MerKaBa je složenica od tri riječi: Mer, Ka i Ba, koje dolaze iz drevnog Egipta. U nekim kultirama poznata je i pod imenima merkabah, merkaba i merkavah.
Mer se se odnosi na posebnu vrstu svijetlosti, koju su razumjeli u Egiptu samo tijekom 18. dinastije. Vidjeli su je kao dva nasuprotno rotirajuća polja svijetlosti u istom prostoru, koja su bila pogonjena posebnim načinom disanja.
Ka se odnosi na sam duh.
Ba se odnosi na vlastitu intepretaciju Stvarnosti duha. U našoj realnosti Ba znači tijelo, fizički svijet. U drugim stvarnostima, gdje duhovi nemaju tijela, označava njihovu interpretaciju odnosno doživljavanje realnosti, koju nose sa sobom.
Mer-Ka-Ba, dakle znači rotirajuće polje svijetlosti, koje istovremeno utiče na tijelo i duh.
Ono je "vozilo", koje može prenijeti duh i tijelo (odnosno vlastitu interpretaciju Stvarnosti duha) iz jednog svijeta ili dimenzije u drugu. Ono je ustvari mnogo više, jer pomoću nje možemo stvarati stvarnosti ili kroz njih putovati.
Merkaba je interdimenzionalno vozilo (Mer-Ka-Vah na hebrejskom znači kočiji i istovremeno znači i božje prijestolje), koje će nam pomoći pri povratku našem prvotnom stanju svijesti.
